Birth: Nov. 4, 1987 Pennsylvania, USA Death: May 13, 2009, Iraq Army Cpl McGhee was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. He died from wounds sustained during a firefight with enemy forces while conducting combat operations in Balad. Since he was a teenager, Ryan knew he would become an Army Ranger. He attended Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia where he was a member of the Key Club, served on the class executive board his junior and senior years, and chosen by his classmates for two senior superlatives – friendliest and most charming. After graduating in 2006, Ryan entered the U.S. Army on August 1, 2006 and completed the Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Indoctrination Program. He first served as a Rifleman and Grenadier in Company B before serving as a Weapons Squad Team Leader with Company D, 75th Ranger Regiment. Ryan was on his fourth tour of duty
