- Birth: Mar. 2, 1991 Death: Aug. 20, 2010, Afghanistan Lance Cpl. Cody S. Childers, 19, of Chesapeake, Va., died Aug. 20 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, IIMarine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is survived by his parents, Wendy and Randy Childers; brother, Ryan Childers; sister, Cassidy Childers; half-brother, Chris Childers; and half-sister, Stephanie Medina. Also surviving are his Nan and Gramps, Wade and Peggy Ewell; his aunts and uncles, Jayme and Richard Montague and Brenda and Mike Andrews; and many cousins.
