Army Capt Adamouski was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. Adamouski was killed when his UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed in central Iraq. Raised in Springfield, Virginia, and high school class president, James was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he played soccer and was good enough to play for a professional team when he was stationed in Germany.
