Birth: Dec. 28, 1982 San Antonio Bexar County Texas, USA Death: Jul. 31, 2007, Afghanistan 1st Lt. Benjamin J. Hall was one of several generations of a military family. His father is a retired Army colonel. Both of Hall's grandfathers served in World War II; his great-grandfather in World War I; and his great-great-grandfather was a Union soldier in the Civil War. Benjamin's family moved around many times while he grew up an "army brat", but he never had problems fitting in wherever they were as he was a very giving, humble person. Benjamin ran cross-country and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Woodbridge Virginia's Hylton Senior High School in 2001 and from Michigan Technological University with a degree in political science in 2005. He was commissioned in 2005 as a Distinguished Military Graduate from the Army ROTC program at Michigan Technological University, where he was the top cadet
