- SGT James C Martin entered military service in May 1942. He went overseas in April 1943 with the Ninth Air Corps. He fought through drives in Sicily, Italy and other regions in the European theatre of operations. He earned seven bronze battle stars, the air medal with two clusters, and the Presidential Unit Citation! He and five of his brothers were all deployed overseas at the same time! SGT Martin fought in World War Il and the Korean War. James and wife Erma were parents to nine boys and three girls. They also had many grandchildren, one of which was CPL Joshua C Sticklen, KIA, Iraq.
