Birth: Jun. 9, 1983 Portsmouth Portsmouth City Virginia, USA Death: Sep. 3, 2006 Baghdad, Iraq Army Pfc. Edwin A. Andino II, 23, of Culpeper, Va.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Wurzburg, Germany; died Sept. 3 of injuries suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations in Baghdad. Also killed was Sgt. Jason L. Merrill. He was awarded the Army Achievement Medal and received a posthumous Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for valor. Survivors include his mother, Cathy J. Andino; his father, Edwin A. Andino; and grandparents Hazel and H.R. Settle.
